I spent so much time talking to people at BlogHer but I didn’t take any pictures of anyone. I have no idea why. I think I was so busy talking that I forgot to do it.
I did spend some time with the lovely and bubbly Annette, though. We went to the Met but because we got there before they opened, we wandered around Fifth Ave for half an hour or so, taking pictures. She’s as big a fan of architectural detail as I am, which was cool. It’s nice to not get weird looks when you take photos of manhole covers or hinges.

This is my favourite photo from the day. I took it with Camera+ then ran it thru the Depth of Field filter. I’m loving the Camera+ app – it lets you do a lot more editing than Instagram, including cropping, and it has a lot more filters. I just like the way this one looks.
I don’t pretend to be a great photographer but I do enjoy it and I’m hoping I can start taking more photos with my phone. I’m going to have questions, though, I’m sure, so if any of you have any tips or know of good websites (I already know about Schmutzie’s site), I’d love to hear about them.

BlogHer is in two short weeks and to say I’m excited would be a gross understatement.
I don’t know my roommates in person. I won’t really know anyone there at all – sure, I’ve met some of them before, but I seem to have a face that people forget. And yet I’m not nervous about it. (Not yet, anyway.) I’m thrilled. I’ve mapped out things I want to do in New York City and the panels and things I want to attend at the conference and if I don’t have anyone to go with, I’ll go alone.
This is major progress for me. A year ago, I wouldn’t have been able to do this. For some reason, this year, I feel like I can. I’m actually looking forward to it. There’s a Schiaparelli/Prada exhibit that I really want to see, at the Costume Institute at the Met. And a Weegee exhibit at the International Center for Photography.

Sort of the yin and yang of exhibits, huh?
I’ve been busy making lists of things I need to take. I’m going to need an entire suitcase just for shoes. I bought a gorgeous dress for the Sparklecorn party, because it’s the best party of the conference. I even have cool, new business cards, designed for me by Schmutzie, at Ninjamatics. Go over there – you can see my card in her gallery and see the kickass work she does.
I’m sure I’m going to get more nervous as the days draw down, but that’s OK. It’s OK to be nervous. I’d be wary of anyone who wasn’t going to be nervous walking into a conference of 4,500 people. 4,400 of which will most likely be women. It’s intimidating, I don’t care who you are in the blogging world.
I do know I’m going to find The Bloggess and say hello, even if I have to hunt her down in every bathroom in the hotel, because she’s awesome.
I’m going to try to take a lot of pictures, but I said that the last time I went to BlogHer, in 2010, and I barely took any. But if I don’t, I don’t. I just want to go, have a good time, soak up New York City like a sponge, and just be me.
If you’re going, find me. We’ll go raid Junior’s together.

This is me.
